You are encouraged to ask any software developer you are considering to hire. The questions are good starting point to assess whether the person is worth hiring.
- Do you have an established way to track bugs in your software?
Bugs refer to problems or errors in software. You need to know the process the developer uses to track bugs. Also, it is important that the bugs are fixed in a timely manner before it becomes a bigger problem.
- Do you do user testing?
User testing practice is where the developer brings in users for 30-60 minute user tests and walks them through the software to identify all the problem areas.
- What is your process for communicating with your client?
Your developer should have the ability to keep you informed of what is happening with the project. They should also be able to address your needs in a timely manner.
